Shouldn't the punchline be "_your_ relationship status"? Otherwise, it doesn't make sense.

I'm assuming that if Alex changed her relationship status away from being married to me, mine would change, too... just as hers would change if I switched mine to "single".

Then again, I'm reeeeeally leery of testing that theory.
